• What is Mindfulness (Awareness)
Mindfulness is generally translated as "awareness" in Turkish and is defined as the practice of becoming consciously aware of mental processes. It is the ability to watch thoughts without judgement and without being carried away by them. Mindfulness is based on living in the moment without trying to solve problems.
• Benefits and Applications of Mindfulness
Mindfulness practice has many benefits such as reducing stress, increasing attention, strengthening positive emotions and improving relationships. Its positive effects on the brain have been supported by scientific studies. It can also be applied in the field of nursing and can help nurses to be more careful and compassionate in patient care.
• Mindfulness Exercises
Mindfulness practice includes formal exercises such as sitting meditation, walking meditation and yoga. It also includes informal exercises that can be applied at any moment of daily life. These exercises enable the individual to live in the moment and be mentally present.
• Mindfulness Attitudes
In mindfulness practice, attitudes such as patience, non-judgement, trust, beginning spirit and acceptance are important. These attitudes help the individual to get rid of mental pain and enjoy the moment. Developing and practising these attitudes was a fundamental part of mindfulness practice.
