      • Event and Speaker Introduction
        The session titled "The Art and Science of Nursing", which was the second conference of the "1st Nursology Nursing Science Symposium", was held by Prof. Dr. Durdu. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ümran Yılmaz, Dean of Near East University Faculty of Nursing.
        • Academic Background of the Speaker
        Prof. Dr. Durdu started her nursing education at Hacettepe University in 1972 and expanded her knowledge and experience by studying in the United States of America. She carried out important studies on the conceptual framework in the field of nursing and nurse-patient relations, and continued her educational activities in various universities after her retirement.
        • Science and Art in Nursing
        The conference emphasised that nursing is not only based on scientific knowledge and skills, but also an art. It was emphasised that nurses should have a wide range of knowledge from anatomy to sociology, but also the importance of approaching the patient with a sense of aesthetics and art.
        • Philosophical Foundations of Nursing
        It was stated that nursing is not only about practical applications, but also based on deep philosophical foundations. It was emphasised that nurses should be aware of these philosophical foundations in order to understand the dynamics between disease and health and to help their patients in the best way.
        • Nursing Theories and Practices
        It was stated that nursing is based on various theoretical frameworks and these theories guide nursing practices. It is important for nurses to transform their knowledge into practical applications through micro, medium and large theories in order to be able to care for patients more effectively.

        1. Understanding of Nursing Science and Art: Understanding the science and art aspects of nursing discipline, comprehending the relationship between these two aspects and learning how to reflect them to nursing practice.
        2. Understanding Theoretical Approaches: Recognising the various theoretical approaches used in nursing and understanding how to integrate these theories into patient care.
        3. Development of Critical Thinking and Analysis Skills: Using critical thinking and analysing skills in nursing practice, evaluating the situations encountered and producing appropriate solutions.
        4. Professional Development: Understanding professional development in the field of nursing, understanding the importance of continuous learning and using this information in career development.
        5. Communication Skills: Establishing effective communication in nursing practice, developing effective communication skills with patients, their families and other health professionals.
